MET Gala 2014 : Best Dressed

It was time for the most anticipated night in the world of fashion – truly a night when glamour and beauty came descending from the stars (pun intended). We bring you some fashion glimpses from the MET Ball 2014 hosted by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Sarah Jessica Parker was not just one of the firsts to arrive at the ball but also one of the firsts to steal hearts in her  black & white Oscar de la Renta gown.

There was nothing to beat the sizzling chemistry of the former Spice Girl turned fashion designer Victoria Beckham, in her off shoulder white dress, and the dapper David Beckham in his white tuxedo jacket and black trousers.

Selena Gomez, in a decollete DVF gown, Lorraine Schwartz jewels and Charlotte Olympia pumps was a picture of perfection!

If looks could kill, Diane Kruger in a Hugo Boss spaghetti strap dress with a flowy overlay on the side would have killed an army.  That she had Joshua Jackson as the most handsome arm candy, added to her charm.

No better show stopper than this humongous gown sported by Fashion designer Tabitha Simmons. That it is flowing lace, makes it oh-so-romantic.

Now that’s royal dressing! Rachel McAdams’ floor length Ralph Lauren gown befits a princess!

Well, vintage charm is what Dita von Teese brought to the event in her fishtail gown by Zac Posen.

If someone knows how to flaunt the décolletage, it has to be Blake Lively. Dressed in a custom-made Gucci Premiere gown with a plunging neckline she spelled sheer chic. The hair left in loose waves, just added to her charm.

Hand in hand with matching black & white ensembles, Charlize Theron and Sean Penn cut a picture of perfection. Charlize’s Dior gown accentuated with Fred Leighton jewels, are just the stuff Galas are made of!

Remember the allure of fairy tales? In a stunning Burberry replete with a train, Suki Waterhouse recreated the charm that fairytales are made of!

There’s no matching Kim Kardashian’s curves, especially when they are accentuated in a blue strapless gown!

A sheer skirt, a plunging neckline and a half veil…….if anyone can carry it off, it is none other than Beyonce. With hubby dear by her side, she was a picture of confidence.

Taylor Swift’s lovely satin gown fortunately did not show any signs of attack from her pet cat, that her pre-event tweet mentioned.

No one can flaunt their lean & fit body better than Rihanna. In a pristine Stella McCartney she stole the show.

Pink is certainly her color! Emma Stone looked every bit the effortless star in a Thakoon dress. The Miu Miu shoes and a Tod’s clutch were perfect accessories.

Radiance personified- that was Jessica Alba, in a gold lace DVF.

Well if it was Gold for Jessica Alba, it was silver all the way for Amy Adams. The smoky eyes did justice to her Oscar de la Renta gown & her flawless persona!

A galaxy of stars or stunning couture, whatever you prefer, this year’s Met Gala had that to offer & more. With this year’s theme being a tribute to Charles James, some over-the-top ensembles were only to be expected.
